The problem

Trivially forged

Lost in resale

Impossible to verify remotely
A buyer halfway around the world has no way to confirm that the certificate they see in a photo is real, was issued by you, and matches that specific item.

Cryptographically signed
Each tap mints a fresh, server-signed proof. Anyone can copy a serial number; only the chip can prove it's real.
Tamper-evident hardware
NTAG 424 DNA chips physically self-destruct their authentication keys if the case is forced. Cloning is impossible at scale.

Once minted, each certificate lives on Base — an Ethereum Layer-2 chain. If Hallmark went offline tomorrow, every customer would still own their cert forever, verifiable on any block explorer.
Customer-owned, not licensed
The certificate lives in the customer's crypto wallet (Coinbase Wallet, MetaMask, anything that speaks ERC-721). They own it the way they own the physical item. We pay all on-chain gas; they pay nothing.
Smart-contract royalties on resale
Configure a royalty percentage in the contract. Every time the NFT changes hands on OpenSea, Blur, or any compliant marketplace, that cut flows straight back to your brand — a new income stream from the secondary market.
